Kindergarten

Our Kindergarten team is led by a Registered Early Childhood Educator and an Early Childhood Assistant who take pride in planning and facilitating a weekly programme that provides children with ample opportunities to explore, play and learn through structured and non structured opened ended play. Our team works cooperatively with the kindergarten school teachers to create a smooth transition between school time and Programme time.

We promote children’s communication, self-expression and self-regulation within all aspects of our programs. St. George’s SACCP strives to be an inclusive environment that focuses on active play-based learning, where children are encouraged to explore their natural curiosities and interact with the express themselves in a variety of ways that support their individual learning style. Educators seek understand, support, encourage, document and respond to the many ways in which children express themselves, articulate their idea and utilize a variety of communication strategies.

Educators encourage the children to interact and communicate in positive ways and support their ability to self-regulate by building mutually, trusting relationships with the children. Staff build on the children’s strengths, support their developmental needs and use open-ended questions to promote confidence in their abilities to make appropriate decisions and to problem solve. Bulletin display boards or photo albums are used to display photographs, document how the children learn and to communicate the children’s expression of what they have learned.

Staff support, respect and reflect children’s home language and culture in our programs. We welcome children of all abilities and believe that respect for diversity, equity and inclusion is vital for optimal development, sense of belonging, well-being and learning.

Our daily programming consists of open ended free play, language activities, science/math activities, dramatic arts, arts and crafts, physical activities, and at least once a month, baking / cooking activity.
